A short intro about the course
The Taiwan Question has become one of the main international issues of today’s world, and the evolution of the cross-strait relations between mainland China and the island of Taiwan may have consequences on many other international actors. For this reason, this course explains the history of this problem, in order to allow the analysts to understand the background of this issue and be able to provide an exact interpretation of the political, economic and military situation of Taiwan. The three lessons analyze the concept of “one China policy”, the origins of the ideology of the Kuomintang and the persecutions that happened during the White Terror, the opinions of the most influent politicians of the island of the past and the present and the economic and military issues that the island is facing.
